Actors Who Were Raped. Robbed and Roughed Up By The OSCARS Volume One

Welcome to the first installment of Actors Who Were Raped, Robbed and Roughed Up by The OSCARS! This selection of reviews is to place direct blame on the OSCARS for deliberately, or just out of sheer stupidity and complete lack of understanding of what The Art of Acting truly is, have given The Oscar to some shmuck that didn't deserve it and passed over the Actor what DID.

Bear in mind this is JUST MY FUCKING OPINION and in no way shape or form is meant to malign or compromise The Oscars, its affiliations thereof or SAG-AFTRA, Etc, ad nauseum...It's just a fucking blog.... deal.

So... again, Welcome.

Let me start off by stating that I LOVE the ART of Acting, Film Making, Set Design, Costume Design, Scores... all of the great and fantastic Art that goes into making a movie. I pay attention to that shit. It give me a right big woody to see a 17th century costume where you can tell... like SEE IT, that it not only LOOKS like it was coarsely woven cloth, but probably IS, and then was distressed, sewn by hand, all the things... to make it really look like a period piece of clothing. From Clothing to Armor to Swords to Paint to Wallpaper to Shoes, Sets, Location... it makes me happy As Fuckall. I truly appreciate the hundreds, of not thousands of hours, that went into a 45 second scene in a film. Because they made you BELIEVE that shit... for that instance.

And because I am a major film buff, I deeply appreciate and honor the Profession of Acting. I totally fell in love with Gal Gadot, not because she's smoking hot but because she made me fall in love with Diana. She made me Believe it....

The Oscars are supposed to be the pinnacle of an Actors career. It is the award supposed to be given to the Actor who created the Best Performance, in whatever role they were performing. Then there are the awards given for set design, costume, lighting, music, etc... THE BEST... right?

Seems to me, on too many occasions to count, the Oscars miss their mark, for whatever reason. Maybe the game is rigged, maybe someone pissed someone off, who knows? Point is, I feel like they fucked up, so I'm here to rectify such travesties.

My Award tonight is for PERFORMANCE of the Best Supporting Actor in a Role.

John Leguizamo was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in the film, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar. The film did not do well, both in Box Office and Critically. Another film, Pricilla, Queen of the Desert came out around the same time and the two were compared against one another to the point that no one could get over the fact that the movies were about Drag Queens. In this Raven's not so humble opinion, PERFORMANCE and not the film itself are what to look for in Merit. It doesn't matter diddly squat if the film did well, if it made money, if you liked it or didn't... was the PERFORMANCE, Oscar Worthy?

John Leguizamo is a fine fucking Actor. He has done some films that I liked his performance in, and some films that I was like, " Dafuq was DAT bruh??!!" Like him or not, his performance in To Wong Foo... was SPECFUCKINGTACULAR.

Of all the film performances that year, 1995, I have always felt like it was THE performance of a Lifetime and Career. He 100% gave his ALL to the role of Chi-Chi Rodriguez. He made you BELIEVE he was a 'sad little Latin boy in drag' who became Miss Drag Queen of America. He embodied the role, made it HIS, and is the true Hero of the story.

Now granted, he would have been up against some stiff competition had he been nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars that year. Gary Sinise for Forest Gump, Samuel Jackson for Pulp Fiction, Paul Scofield for Quiz Show, Martin Landau for Ed Wood and Chaz Palminteri for Bullets Over Broadway. Let's get real for a sec and take three right off that list...But given Jacksons performance in Pulp Fiction, which was Amazballz and Gary Sinise in Forest Gump, John Leguizamo would have stood toe to toe just fine. And honestly, Samuel Jackson was playing Samuel Jackson and Gary Sinise was playing Gary Sinise.... So...::shrug::..

Martin Landau got the Oscar for Ed Wood. Dunno if you've seen it but I was like... WHAT?!

Martin Landau got a Pity Oscar, an award frequently given by the Academy.

So, without further ado, I would like to present the First Raped, Robbed and Roughed Up Award to John Leguizamo for Best Supporting Actor!!!
